Frank & I, Rutgers Mark Conference 2014

I really didn’t think Frank remembered how he’d asked me to send him an email after we spoke a few weeks ago.

Then I got a Facebook notification from my friend Lizz today, and I found out something pretty cool:

Frank had shared my story– and thank you note– on the PostSecret Twitter account.

This is a pretty cool start to my week.

If you’re visiting my site from that tweet, be sure to follow both of my sites…

Gay Bride Guide-

Applebees likes Golden Gays.

I was tweeting with my friend Paul about the Golden Globes when I jokingly  started hashtagging #GoldenGays.

Suddenly, Applebees (THE VERIFIED ACCOUNT!) was following me.

I mean, I’ve eaten their fine cuisine for years. I’ve been followed by chains before. But this… this was new. This was the first time a chain followed me, unprompted, with no type of tweet even mentioning their food.

Like the time I decided that Cory Booker followed me because I referred to Cory Booker as the Chuck Norris of my generation, I’ve decided that Applebees has followed me because I’m awesomesauce. That, and they love the “Golden Gays.”

This also prompted me to decide to live tweet the Golden Globes tomorrow night under the hashtag #GoldenGays. Who knows? Maybe Applebees will follow along and join in the fun.

New year, new layout, new beginnings!

Today I was going to go on a #23til23 adventure to a local botanical garden and hang out in the bamboo forest, writing poetry while I pretended to meditate. Unfortunately, I woke up with a sore throat and a cold so I ended up sleeping and medicating instead of writing and meditating.

Somehow, in between doses of tea, soup, tylenol, and cold medicine, I (probably in a state of delusional being) decided to completely redo the layout and feel of my site. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile, and I finally decided to just take the leap. (I also thought the revamp Casey did at LifeWithRoozle was really awesome and I had a bit of pretty-blog envy.)

The result? Well, you’re looking at it. With a few tweets of feedback from my friend Dana of The Dragyn’s Lair  I settle on the orange highlights. Bada bing, bada boom, and GingerSass is now looking fresher and sassier than ever! It’s a really great way to start off the new year, and a really great part of my #23til23 journey!

Much to my surprise, the new layout allows my blog to show up a lot nicer on smartphones and other mobile devices.

What do you think of the new layout?
